Client of the Month – Vanessa McCann

  1. Age? 38
  2. How long have you been training with Focus Fitness Personal Training? 3 and ½ years.
  3. Favourite exercise and why? Back Squats. A really challenging exercise to do correctly, but when you learn to engage all of your muscles during the movement you get a real feeling of strength. I also find my legs the hardest to tone so this exercise helps me towards that goal.
  4. What do you enjoy most about your training? The Structure, the fact that my technique is constantly being monitored so I know I’m doing it right even during the really hard reps when I’m fatigued. Noelle is so genuinely invested in getting the best out of me purely for me. I came from a background of playing a lot of sport and doing a lot of distance running, I was always fit and most sports came pretty easy to me. Strength training did not however come easy and Noelle has taught me how to use my energy explosively and overcome the mental blocks of lifting really heavy weights. I know for certain I would not have come this far going to gym on my own.
  5. Favourite movie? The bodyguard.
  6. Favourite ‘guilty pleasure’ food? Thai Chicken Green Curry.
  7. Describe yourself in 3 words? Determined, hardworking and loyal.
  8. Most memorable moment in Focus Fitness? So hard to choose just one moment, but overall the chats Noelle and I have in between gulps of water and trying to catch my breath, we always manage to have a really great laugh/moan.
  9. Favourite quote? The sign that hung on the wall in the focus fitness gym “its never to late to become what you might have been”.
  10. If stranded on a desert island who would you choose as a companion and why? My Kids, they would see fun in the situation because they always look for it, so we would have a blast.
  11. If you could go back in time who would you like to meet and why? I would like to meet my 10 year old self and enjoy the innocence and the not a care in the world attitude I remember having.
  12. What type of animal would you be and why? A cat, they don’t care about anybody but themselves that could be quiet an easy life.
  13. How would you explain your basic life philosophy?  The more you put in the more you get out.
  14. what is your least favourite exercise to do and why? Jump Squats with heavy weights, tough tough tough!
  15. What is your favourite thing to do outside of the gym/work? It’s got to be spending time with friends and family. The most important thing in my life is the people, Noelle is my personal trainer but most of all she has become a really great friend.
